A Thought
Who or what are you truly committed to? Who are the people you are loyal to, and the values you work hard to honor? The truth is, we can’t be truly “committed” to too many things without causing inner and outer turmoil. Likewise, until we are committed to someone or something, we can’t make real progress or achieve deep satisfaction. Commitment provides clarity, direction, and focus.
Commitment requires hard choices. We must decide how we use our resources of time, attention, talent, and money if we want to experience success. When I say success, I mean how you define success. My definition of success may not be the same as yours, but it starts with knowing your definition of success. This takes intentional time and attention to discern.
The world is more than happy to tell you what success is and is not. It’s more than happy to sell you it’s products and services to “make you happy”. While there is nothing wrong with enjoying the things of this world, I believe we each have a bigger purpose we are given to pursue. This purpose provides our lives with meaning, richness, and depth. When we are committed to pursuing this purpose, we have greater clarity and ease in making decisions, the strength to endure challenges, and immense satisfaction in achieving our goals. It’s not always easy, but what epic journey ever was?
An Invitation
